TEMECULA VALLEY MUSEUM RECEIVES AWARD OF MERIT

March 15, 2000

The California Park and Recreation Society (CPRS) has presented the City of Temecula with an Award of Merit in recognition of the Temecula Valley Museum facility and interior design. All museum exhibits, which opened in November 1999, were planned, fabricated, and installed by Think Jacobson & Roth.

The 4,000 square feet of exhibits, located on two floors of the museum, feature the history of the Temecula Valley, an interactive "Touch History" exhibit for children, a temporary exhibition gallery, and a California missions classroom designed for elementary school groups.

Additionally, Think Jacobson & Roth was contracted to plan and conduct 16 oral history interviews of early Temecula Valley residents. These interviews form the core collection of the cityÕs first oral history archive, housed at the museum, and extracts of numerous interviews were included in the video "Temecula Valley Stories," featured in the history gallery. At the project conclusion, Think Jacobson & Roth organized training materials and conducted an oral history training program for those volunteers enlisted to continue the oral history interviews for the archive.
